I used to run in minimalist shoes (fivefingers, infamous toe-shoes) which require a few different adaptations compared to normal running shoes -- got busy, running fell off of the agenda as time became short -- fast forward a year (and zero training) later and my wife and I decide to run a 5K, I was concerned about going out wearing the fivefingers without having trained with them in so long, so I ordered these at the last minute (they literally showed up the night before the race!).So there I was, on the morning of a 5K after not having run at all (or done any sort of cardio) in a year, wearing brand-spanking new running shoes that haven't been worn in at all -- I was prepared for the worst but it turns out I needn't have worried at all. The shoes were comfortable the whole time, good cushioning and stability, breathed well, no chafing or friction issues... I'm looking forward to continuing to run in them!
